Custom Instruments and Equipment
Alex, Geddy, and Neil over the years have helped design instruments and other equipment for sale by manufacturers under their signature lines. Here’s what’s available today:
Alex’s Les Paul Axcess Gibson
Alex’s Axcess gets rave reviews from musicians. The neck heel and portions of the back at the upper cutaway are contoured to provide unimpeded reach up to the 22nd fret. It has a Floyd Rose tailpiece, optimized for subtle vibrato, from wobbles to dramatic, rumbling dive-bombs. Exposed-coil 496R and 498T pickups in the neck and bridge yield a wide range of tonal opportunities, from ultra crunch to driving leads.
Geddy’s Fender Jazz bass
Fender makes this replica of the bass Geddy used on “Tom Sawyer,” “Vital Signs” and “Witch Hunt” from Moving Pictures and “Limelight” from Permanent Waves. He’s gone back to it in recent years as well.
$7,600 for limited edition replica
Alex’s Lerxst Omega Amp and Speaker Cabinet
Gear aficionados love this amp, which is based on the Marshall Silver Jubilee that Alex uses in the studio today. It’s made by Mojotone and has the custom “Lerxst” look that Alex used on stage on the Clockwork Angels tour.

Neil’s Shira Kashi Oak Drum Sticks
Made from a Japanese oak, it’s longer and has a thicker taper than the typical stick while keeping the classic 5A diameter. Its large oval bead provides a dark, warm tone. Perfect stick for making a lot of noise.

Lerxst Omega Guitar Performer Stand
This walk-up performer stand was designed by Alex years ago to enable quick shifts between guitars on stage, but apparently it’s unavailable for sale.
However, other walk-up performer stands are available from K&M, among other companies. On Sweetwater, the music instrument and audio store, the K&M stand retails for $299.99. K&M also makes a walk-up stand for electric guitars.
