Jann Wenner’s Surprise
Jann Wenner, the founder of Rolling Stone magazine and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, has a reputation for not caring too much for Rush’s music. But he was gracious in his introduction of them at the 2013 Rock Hall induction ceremony. He also had a little fun, too, saying he had no reason to announce who they are because the house gave the band a standing ovation even before their name was announced.
The standing ovation was exactly 60 seconds long. Here’s a clip of it that includes the surprised look on everyone’s faces.

The ovation was well over 2 minutes, actually. What you’re showing is HBO’s edited version, although this was not shown in the broadcast.

That must have been amazing!! Over 2 minutes long!! Well deserved. I was only able to watch the HBO version and even then I had chills and watery eyes. In my lifetime, no band has come close to Rush! It’s Rush all their own category, ..then there’s the rest battling it out. Screw Rolling Stone and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! Personally, I like that they weren’t included in that b.s. with “rap artists’ ” . What A JOKE!
