Rush to be Nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?!
UPDATE: It’s official. Rush nominated for 2013. More.
A Facebook post by Oregon radio station 92.3 KGON says Rush will be included in the 2013 nominations for induction in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
“Rush, Deep Purple, Heart, Procol Harum, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Randy Newman are among the names being submitted to voters for next year’s induction honors,” the post says.
Other possible nominees are Donna Summer, Chic, Joan Jett, Albert King, Kraftwerk, The Meters, N.W.A. and Public Enemy.
A post on Rush is a Band, drawing on a point made by the Future Rock Legends site, says former Rush manager Cliff Burnstein is a nominating committee member and last year one of his bands, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, was inducted into the Rock Hall.
Rush has been eligible for induction for a number of years and previous inductees, including band members of Metallica and Guns N’ Roses, have called Rush’s exclusion from the Rock Hall unsupportable. It looks like the band will finally at least get nominated.
Thanks to Rush is a Band for the head’s up.

Other than Heart, Joan Jett and Chic, this is the first time any of the other artists has been nominated. In order to be eligible for induction, an artist had to release their first record at least 25 years prior.
