Fox Lists Rush as One of 11 Bands Better Than The Beatles
For the 50th anniversary of The Beatles arrival in the United States for their first appearance here, Fox News poked the band in the eye a little by listing 11 bands it thinks are better than the Fab Four. Rush is listed as number 7 and says Rush’s essential album is Moving Pictures from 1981.
“Call it Revenge of the Nerds, Part 2112,” Mike Mettler says in his write-up. “It only took The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a few decades to recognize what fans have known since the band’s “Working Man” days – the collective musicianship of this Canadian power trio has no counterpart. (A legion of air drummers, guitarists, and bassists all just wheedle-deedled their approval in spirited unison.)”
Number 1 on Fox’s list is Led Zeppelin, followed by The Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground, U2, Radiohead, and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.
After Rush, Fox lists The Band, The Clash, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, and The Replacements.
Pretty eclectic group and there’s no indication of why they picked who they did. But someone there is a fan. Thanks to RushIsABand for the head’s up.
