Clockwork Angels: The ‘Legend to Shine’

Rush fan websites like Rush is a BandCygnus x-1, and Power Windows have done a great job keeping up on the news about the upcoming release of Clockwork Angels, which is scheduled for May 29. (Learn more and order.) I was hoping it was May 24 to coincide with Victoria Day in Canada:

Everyone would gather
On the twenty-fourth of May
Sitting in the sand
To watch the fireworks display

No such luck, although we have heard that, in addition to “BU2B” and “Caravan,” a third single will be released prior to the album: “Headlong Flight,” and it contains the line “I stoke the fires of the big steel wheels.” On Rush is a Band, there are blurbs that say it has a bit of an updated “By-Tor and the Snow Dog” sound and includes an extended ’74-’77-era guitar solo. Rush is a Band reader DJ_Carter describes the piece in its entirety here.

But in any case, in the spirit of friendly fun, I wanted to share the Amazon Japan link to the album page, which is taking pre-orders. The Google translation of the Japanese product description is priceless:

“Latest five years pretending to be about ‘Legend’ to shine, of Rush a name and its brilliance to the lock to lock scene with the trio of the strongest in history!

“Treasures of the current rock scene to record the album sales of 4,000 million units worldwide, Rush. ‘Time Machine 2011: Live In Cleveland’ live latest work was published in December 2011 followed, finally announced the latest studio work!”

If that doesn’t make you want to plunk down your 100 yen, I don’t know what will.

Amazon Japan says the album will available May 23. I guess they couldn’t push it back a day to make the Victoria Day connection!

The album isn’t yet listed on other Amazon sites.

Clockwork Angels is about a young man’s quest to follow his dreams, according to Kevin Anderson, the science fiction author and Neil Peart buddy who’s writing a novelization of the album. He’s “caught between the grandiose forces of order and chaos. He travels across a lavish and colorful world of steampunk and alchemy, with lost cities, pirates, anarchists, exotic carnivals, and a rigid Watchmaker who imposes precision on every aspect of daily life.”

More This and That.
