The Big Dance: Background

Alex and his son Adrian Zivojinovich wrote this piece about a young man on the make, offering attention and excitement to women whose husbands have provided them with wealth but left them emotionally hungry. “An angel of love to you is what I’ll appear / Your lonely ache, I can make disappear.” On vocals, Edwin sounds a little like he’s channeling James Hetfield.—Rob Freedman, Rush Vault

“‘The Big Dance’ is one of the heaviest tracks on the album. It has this industrial feel. Les Claypool is the star, despite it being hard to hear the bass on it. The guitar is also a real treat, with a crushing riff.”—Cygnus X-2 on Prog Archives

“‘The Big Dance’ features Les Claypool on bass. Of course, he and the drummer dominate.”—Mellotron Storm on Prog Archives

“Splendid hard rock track with a great rhythm.”—The Crow on Prog Archives
